Also, the xbox functionality was the main reason I got the remote. I didn't want to use the xbox controller to control it since I don't always turn on my xbox controller when I turn on the console. I definitely would have gotten something cheaper if that wasn't an issue for me.

is the xbox one cheaper? i'm pretty sure the regular harmony 550 has the 360 in the database as well

I think the 550 is $5-10 cheaper...but you may be able to find better deals online. I know the xbox one has Y X A B buttons on the remote.
I use those buttons a lot so they come in handy but I'm sure the 550 could do the same w/o the extra buttons.

thats exactly what ours does, pres and hold one button, TV goes on, couple seconds later logitech surround sound goes on then cable box goes on....when hometheatre receiver is in that goes on last. we have the model listed here i think, or one just like it.....

http://www.ofausa.com/remote.php?type=URC%209910
fully programmable, turns everything on, we use the xbox controller to control that and this works for everything else. plus $25 retail or so and can be found for less. so far very reliable.....

I'm not sure if you meant the same thing, but I didn't mean turn on one device then seconds later turn on another device. It does that of course, but I meant just for one device (i.e. TV), it will send the power on signal then delay sending the the input switch signal so that the TV will be on and accept the signal. If you have a remote that turns the TV on, then immediately tries to switch the input (i.e. from input 1 to input 2) your TV may not get the second signal since the TV isn't completely on. But if that remote does that, then disregard my explanation. I just know that was an issue for me since my LCD takes several seconds to turn on before you can switch inputs.

Also, the xbox functionality was the main reason I got the remote. I didn't want to use the xbox controller to control it since I don't always turn on my xbox controller when I turn on the console. I definitely would have gotten something cheaper if that wasn't an issue for me.

I have the Logitech for the Xbox 360 as well. But it was an easier choice for me since it has Y X A B buttons and I wanted it to be able to change the music tracks while in-game. Also, the programmability is a definite plus. Its programmed to turn everything on with one click, but it has a nice feature that you can make the remote "delay" when sending signals. For instance, my LCD takes awhile to turn on...so I have the remote programmed to turn the tv on first then it delays switching the input for several seconds so the TV can be fully turned on. If you have a tv that takes awhile to turn on this can be important for one-click features. And if you think the signals are too delayed, you can adjust the time so it doesn't lag. There's software that comes with it that makes it really easy to use and it hooks up with a USB cable to the computer. Another nice feature is that you can get the remote to "learn" another remote's button. It also has an auto shutoff feature, and a sensor in it so that it turns on automatically when you pick up the remote.

I think it's worth it for me because its specializes for the xbox and it got me down from 4 remotes to 1, but there may be cheaper universals that handle what you're looking for.

I have a 26" LCD. Although I don't use it as my primary monitor, I tried UT on it and it looked pretty good.

Over G Fighters, Chromehounds, Prey and Lord of the Rings recently came out, but those aren't my type of games. You should google them to see if you like any. I'll be getting NCAA Football tomorrow. Ninety-Nine nights which is a big hit overseas is supposed to come out in the US next month. And Dead Rising comes out next month (zombie-game). Test Drive Unlimited comes out then too, which is called a massive multiplayer online racing game and sounds like a cool concept. Other than that I want to check out Madden, Forza and Gears of War.
If you're just looking to kill some time you could check out the xbl arcade games. I got about 6 and gonna pick up galaga and street fighter II next.

Also, I only played the demo, but Burnout Revenge was fun.

Why do people watch uncapped sports? sad.gif

How is it entertaining at all? The NBA is only marginally better than MLB just because basketball is more fun to watch in my opinion. College basketball is so much better... Oh well, to each their own.

I'm bias since I grew up on basketball, but the MLB is worse in that regard IMO.
The NBA has a soft cap, which of course just about every team goes over using a list of exceptions, but if it were like the MLB I'm sure a "Mark Cuban or Maloof brothers" would have 3+ superstars on their team. Atleast the way it is now you can't find a team with more than two superstars, so no Yankee-like teams in the NBA at the moment. You just have to look at the Olympics to see that such superstar teams do and don't work. I would hate to see no cap but it would be interesting to see what a hard cap would do to the league, but I don't forsee that coming anytime soon.

This is how the one I wrote works, sounds pretty close to yours. The ideas are there, so I'm sure you'll pick it apart and adapt it to yours. It wouldn't take much to separate my class from the driver, the main changes would be getting the i/o to work out of the driver only. Let me know how it goes with your version, wouldn't mind seeing it.

Guess a Number from 1 to 100: 45

Wrong, Number is Higher!

Quit? (y/n): n

Guess Again: 65

Wrong, Number is Lower!

Quit? (y/n): n

Guess Again: 52

Wrong, Number is Lower!

Quit? (y/n): n

Guess Again: 46

Wrong, Number is Higher!

Quit? (y/n): n

Guess Again: 49

Wrong, Number is Higher!

Quit? (y/n): n

Guess Again: 51

You are correct in 6 guesses!

Play Again? (y/n): n

Scanner Cast = new Scanner(System.in);
Random generator = new Random();

int count = 0;
int target;
int user;
boolean correct;
boolean quitting;

target = generator.nextInt(100) + 1;
correct = false;
quitting = false;
Hi_Lo Rem = new Hi_Lo(target, count, correct, quitting);

while(user != target)
{

}
}

I would also think you don't need to create the variables again in Hi_Lodriver and that the constructor wouldn't take arguments.

Such as Hi_Lo Rem = new Hi_Lo ();
Rem.target = generator.nextInt(100) + 1;
etc.

import java.io.*; <---Forgot what that was. Whatever is read from the user it has to be from the driver not the Hi_Lo class.

ah gotcha, i'm not familiar with Scanner, .io is for the system input/output

how come you can't use the methods? did you include the import line i have at top?
nextGuess should just return what the user guessed, it can be a temp variable you create within that method

My java is limited and rusty but the generally idea is there:
I wasn't sure what the toString method is for since Java has one, so I renamed it unsure.gif I haven't programmed in a couple years so I sucked
Edit: Just saw the spacing, sorry...hope this helps though sad.gif

import java.io.*;

static boolean quitting; // false until the user decides to quit.

correct = false; // initially false
quitting = false; // initially false

Here is the description of my project. I'm currently stuck in it because i have to write a class for it making it all the more difficult. Anyone want to volunteer some help?

are you doing just a guessing game from say 1-100, with unlimited guesses?
wat are the specifications for the dialogue and such?

^^ Trillian here too
Its not all fancy and you lose some of the messenger-specific capabilties, i.e. games on yahoo, etc. But it gets the job done, it has icq and irc as well.

K, we got the pci card, put it in and found the network (Signal is Excellent to Very Good) and its been running pretty smooth. I put on WPA with TKIP as mentioned with a shared key. Is that about all I need to do for my router? How about MAC address permitting, or is the WPA enough? Thanks.
